They stand out, often the lone white face in a black crowd, a result of a genetic condition that impairs normal skin pigmentation and strikes about 1 in 3,000 people here. Tanzanian officials say witch doctors are now marketing albino skin, bones and hair as ingredients in potions that are promised to make people rich.

If albinos had magical powers, why the fuck would they die in their 30's of skin cancer?

• “This is serious because it continues some of the perceptions of Africa we’re trying to run away from,” he said.

  But the killings go on. They have even spread to neighboring Kenya, where an albino woman was hacked to death in late May, with her eyes, tongue and breasts gouged out. Advocates for albinos have also said that witch doctors are selling albino skin in Congo.
  

  “People say we can’t die,” he said, referring to a superstition that albinos simply vanish when they get older. “But we can.”

  Police officials said the albino killings were worst in rural areas, where people tend to be less educated and more superstitious. They said that some fishermen even wove albino hairs in their nets because they believed they would catch more fish.

I find it sad that you need to subscribe to some specific brand of mysticism to be taken seriously in American politics.

Obama, who grew up fatherless and without a connection to his racial identity had to overcompensate in a sense, by joining this seemingly crazy-ass Chicago church and linking up with Reverand-Black Brains are different from White Brains-Wright, so that the black zombies in Chicago would vote for him.

It clearly worked for him until it didn't and the god of tribalism came back to collect its dues by associating Obama with every person who walked past his church..

While this bias in association has some racial background, it's really more about the failings of the black church to provide anything useful for their flock.

Email smears going around questioning Obama's committment to Israel have forced him to adopt a more hard-line love for Israel with less of the nuance he seems to bring to other issues.

• Some Jewish voters are turned off by his willingness to negotiate with countries like Iran and Syria. Others reject Obama because of e-mails spreading false rumors about him.

You know, the same shit every President ever has done is now a problem because Black Madrassa, my brother's nickname for Barack Obama, is the candidate.

This proves again that Obama as a black man, faces a different standard than Bush, McCain or any white politician. This is why Rev. Wright's ignorant rants and raves about black children and white children having different brains got attention much faster than McCain's preacher pal Hagee claiming that Hilter was sent by God to force the Jews from Europe.

It took months of liberal digging and prodding until they forced Hagee's record out into the open and made McCain reject Hagee's endorsement after actively seeking it.

But what can you expect in this country when white radicalism is the norm. This is a country that had picnics around bodies of black men swinging from trees.

When Nas released Hip-Hop is Dead everyone ignored Nas' own contribution to rap's downfall (Nastradmus) on the strength of Illmatic alone. Well it's reached a point where being the man who created Illmatic is no longer enough to excuse Nas' bullshit.

By now you've heard of this "Nigger" abortion that Nas has been working on. Apparently something from it leaked and it's worse than you could have ever imagined.

  Later in the song, he continues: "To all my 'kike' niggers, 'spic' niggers, 'guinea' niggers, 'chink' niggers/ That's right, y'all my niggers, too."

  The song's verses are lyrically combative ("Nas is bred for the plan/ To hold a Grand Dragon's head in my hand") while still dropping references to events old and new, like the October slaying of African Reggae artist Lucky Dube.

I'm all for free speech, so I wasn't knocking Nas on his selection of an album title as much as I was knocking him for being too stupid to offer any insight on the topic and he's proved me right. This album isn't smart enough to warrant the controversy it will bring.

These old NY rappers dreaming about the glory days on 1994 need to step up to the fucking plate and make some music and stop the crying and shock tactics. What Nas is doing isn't advanced the "art" any more than Soulja Boy or the Ying Yang Twins.

The sooner Nas realizes that the better off we'll all be.

Alicia Keys Has Lost Her God Damn Mind

I would call it Lauryn Hill syndrome but Alicia is no where as talented.

• In a potentially controversial chat with Blender mag, Alicia Keys, 27, says, "Gangsta rap was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. Gangsta rap didn't exist."
  
  Ms. Keys, sporting a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck, says she has been reading books by some of the members of the Black Panthers.
  
  She says the feud between East Coast and West Coast rappers, which led to the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."

Great, expect a shift from shitty love songs to even shittier political songs.

It's been over 10 years, let's be real, Tupac wasn't a leader and neither was Biggie. They were rappers who got shot.

NWA wasn't a government funded experiment to disseminate the idea of black-on-black violence to the hood. It was a bunch of black dudes playing thug dress-up to make money. Expect Alicia's career to take a quick nose dive.

Much like the gangster rap that was created by the media, Alicia Keys now says that her comments were twisted by Blender.

• "We stand by our story," Blender spokeswoman Kate Cafaro told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

  "My comments about `gangsta rap' were in no way trying to suggest that the government is responsible for creating this genre of rap music," Keys said in a statement issued by J Records. "The point that I was trying to make was that the term was oversloganized by some of the media causing reactions that were not always positive. Many of the `gangsta rap' lyrics articulate the problems of the artists' experiences and I think all of us, including our leaders, could be doing more to address these problems including drugs, gang violence, crime, and other related social issues."

  As for the AK-47 remark, Keys said Tuesday that AK-47 is a nickname given to her by friends "as an acronym for Alicia Keys and a metaphor for wowing people with my music and performances, `killing 'em dead' on stage. The reference was in no way meant to have a literal, political or negative connotation."

I don't believe her.

What happened was her label said,

"Um Alicia, I see you're getting political. That's great. Hey quick question, what race of people do you think buys the majority of your CD's?"

Kwame Kilpatrick and the Black Church: A Match Made in Hell

And I'm not even going to touch on how Obama let himself got caught up in self-aggrandizing radical nonsense of the church.
I'm talking about Kwame Kilpatrick, the thug mayor Detroit who was re-elected after a scandal-filled first term.

• He was criticized for using city funds to lease a car for use by his family and using his city issued credit card to charge thousands of dollars worth of spa massages, extravagant dining, and expensive Moët et Chandon champagne. Kilpatrick would later pay back $9000 of the $210,000 credit card charges.^[5]

  By April 2005, Kilpatrick's approval rating in Detroit was sharply declining due to the scandals and a perceived lack of improvement in the city. As a result, the April 17, 2005 issue of Time Magazine listed him as one of the three worst big-city mayors in the United States.

Much like Bush who was given a second chance at fucking shit up during his first stint in office, Kwame fucked up even worse the second time around. Peep the scandals,

• Red Lincoln Navigator

  In 2005, WXYZ-TV reporter Steve Wilson reported that the city had entered an expensive one year lease for a luxury SUV. It was to be used to chauffeur the mayor's family. The lease was for $24,995; five dollars under the amount that would have required the approval of city council. Kilpatrick, chief of staff Christine Beatty, police chief Ella Bully-Cummings, and other members of the mayor's staff all denied that the red Lincoln Navigator was intended to be used by the mayor's wife and children. Eventually, Kilpatrick admitted the Navigator was for his family, claiming he had told the police chief that it was "too much" and to take it back.^[57] Media coverage of this story was best known for a situation involving the mayor and his security team. Wilson had tracked Kilpatrick down in Washington, D.C., where he was attending a mayor's conference. When Wilson tried to question Kilpatrick about the Navigator lease, a member of the mayor's security team is seen on camera shoving Wilson against a wall.^[58]

  Washington D.C. Police Denies Kilpatrick After-Hours Courtesy Protection

  Since 2002, the Washington D.C. police will only offer professional courtesy protection to Kilpatrick while he is conducting official business in the nation's capital. Washington police no longer provide after-hours police protection to Kilpatrick because of his inappropriate partying during past visits. Sergeant Tyrone Dodson of Washington explained by saying "we arrived at this decision because we felt that the late evening partying on the part of Mayor Kilpatrick would leave our officers stretched too thin and might result in an incident at one of the clubs." The Kilpatrick administration allege that the statements and actions of the Washington police are part a political conspiracy to ruin the mayor.^[59]

  Civic fund

  On May 8, 2007, WXYZ reported that Kilpatrick used $8,600 from his secret Kilpatrick Civic Fund to take his wife, three sons and babysitter on a week long vacation to a five-star California resort, the La Costa Resort and Spa.^[60] The fund, controlled by Kilpatrick's sister and friends, was created to improve the city of Detroit through voter education, economic empowerment and crime prevention. Tax and accounting experts said Kilpatrick's use of the fund was a violation of IRS regulations.^[61] The story was also compounded after WXYZ's cameras caught Kilpatrick in a fit of rage grabbing the microphone out of the hand of reporter Ray Sayah and throwing it hard across the room such that it hit a wall, while Sayah tried to question him about the situation.

And then the shit hit the fan when he got caught perjuring himself in a text message scandal discovered by the Detroit Free Press.
Please give the Free Press a Pultizer for really getting a hold of the Dickensian aspect of the story.

After refusing to resign he played the race card and decried the "lynch mob" that was out to get him.

• "...And finally, and this may be the most talked-about part of this speech after laying out all of that, but I feel that I cannot leave this auditorium with my wife and my sons sitting there without addressing this issue. In the past 30 days I've been called a nigger more than anytime in my entire life. In the past three days I've received more death threats than I have in my entire administration. I've heard these words before but I've never heard people say them about my wife and children. I have to say this because it's very personal to me. Guess what Kwame. You are a nigger. In every negative sense of the word. You brought this on yourself and your family. And now he is the first sitting Mayor in Detroit to be charged with multiple felonies.

Eight charges for him and seven for the smut he perjured himself with. And it's not just the lying and the stealing.

The dude even has some shady stripper murders attached to his name.


I thought the Clay Davis storyline was secretly the best part of Season 5 of The Wire. It was so true to the story, the city and real life events. It happened in real life, it is happening now and will happen again. Clay Davis exploited the sense of black victimhood and persecution on black radio and the press and rode the wave straight to acquital.



I would pray that Kwame doesn't get the free pass Clay Davis got but over 60 Ministers in the city of Detroit have decided to pledge their unwavering support for Kwame Fitz.

This is how the community reacts after more than half a decade of this man shaming the city, cutting their budgets and using their tax dollars on whores, luxury cars and champagne as well as making it that much harder for any black politician to be respected?

By explicity condoning his shameful behavior?

• About 60 Detroit ministers pledged their unwavering support for embattled Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick this afternoon.
  
  Pastors representing multiple denominations, gathered at Corinthian Baptist Church in Hamtramck to publicize their belief that Kilpatrick deserves forgiveness and compassion.

  “The mayor is not standing alone,” said the Rev. E.L. Branch, pastor of Third New Hope Baptist Church in Detroit. “We’re holding him up in prayer all the way through.”
  
  Moments before the ministers convened, Kilpatrick was arraigned in 36th District Court on eight felony counts, including perjury. The Free Press published text messages shared between Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty that revealed the two lied under oath about a extramarital affair and the firing of former Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown.
  
  “We’re called to stand with him at a time of trial in his life,” said the Rev. Skip Wachsman, pastor of Genesis Lutheran Church in Detroit. “He’s not guilty of anything; he has been charged.”
  
  Two weeks ago, the pastors' council voted 34-24 not to issue a letter calling for Kilpatrick to resign over the scandal. The council, which represents 400 clergy members, endorsed Kilpatrick's policies in his 2005 re-election bid.

Truly tragic. What to expect from an institution that foments homophobia, poor-me victimization, materialism and radical political thought that removes blacks so far from the mainstream that they can never get anything done in this society.

I was recently forced to attend a black church service where the preacher tucked his massive diamond chain piece in his shirt pocket while preaching that the congregation needed to make an extra donation for the broken boiler.

How about you pop two diamonds off your chain and buy the whole building central heating?

He also extolled the merits of 'looking good' and ordered his church to stop with the "natural hair" and go get a perm.

The Wire said it perfectly when the newspaper editor said "I feel a little more white after watching that" when Clay Davis left the court after beating all his charges.

Watching Kwame exploit black ignorance yet again has got me feeling whiter than ever.

The Wire: Season 5 Episode 8 (Spoilers!)

One more warning. SPOILERS! DO NOT READ if you didn't watch.

So half of my prediction of how awful 2008 will be came true.

Omar is dead. Killed on some City of God type shit. Knockout Ned RIP. If you don't know what I am talking about, please watch City of God.

As much as I wanted Omar to have some dramatic rainy showdown with Marlo after waging a series of urban terror attacks to draw him out, I knew that type of ending would not be true to the show.

Omar had to die on some bullshit.

The Associated Press of all places, has a pretty good eulogy to Omar.

• Omar had been in danger for a while. Targeted by Marlo's killers, he miraculously escaped a trap by leaping from a sixth-story balcony. Then he vengefully limped around the streets on a makeshift crutch as he harassed Marlo's minions.

  Viewers who paid close attention to Kenard were rewarded: As other fled in terror from Omar, the boy made a point of how unimpressed he was with the injured gunslinger.

  Williams brought a foreboding sadness to his performance in this, the show's fifth and final season. Omar lacked his usual swagger; he became reckless, desperate, alone.

  "You kind of see that he feels like the last of a dying breed," Williams said. "All the blood that's on his hands, it all comes to a head. At least that's where I was mentally when I was doing those scenes."

  Inspired by real stickup men series creator David Simon met during his time as a crime reporter for The Sun, Omar was also larger than life, with his intelligence, rigorous moral code and florid, profanity-free speaking style ("indeed"). Plus, he was gay, a fascinating wrinkle.

  While robbing drug dealers was lucrative for Omar, he often did good deeds and was hailed by critics and fans as a modern-day Robin Hood. As he told drug kingpin Marlo Stanfield while robbing him at a poker game, "Money ain't got no owners. Only spenders."

  Even presidential contender Barack Obama expressed his admiration for Omar — albeit with the caveat that he didn't endorse Omar's behavior.

A president who loves the Wire. The possibilities that provides are too much to go into right now.

What is hard for me to get is how many fans don't get this show or the Sopranos. So many people were pissed with how the Sopranos ended and it seems the same morons wanted some Neo/Mr. Smith Matrix showdown with Omar and Marlo.

• "His murder was swift and unexpected, probably not unlike the way many guys in his line of work meet their ends," fan Anthony Wilson wrote on his blog. But the stark realism of Omar's death stood in contrast to the optimism he represented.

  "He beat the odds time and again over five seasons," Wilson wrote. "I thought Omar was supposed to prosper. Why get him got now? Doesn't make sense to me."

  Williams, though, is prospering. Omar was the first recurring TV role for the 42-year-old actor, who acquired his distinctive facial scar when he was slashed with a razor during a bar fight. The wrap party for the show's fourth season was modeled after a high school prom and graduation, and it was an emotional night for Williams, a high school dropout who grew up in rough East Flatbush, Brooklyn. He died because he was alone, no backup, no car, a broken leg and the entire drug dealing establishment out to kill him. He's not Batman, he had to catch one to the dome. This isn't Batman: Year One.

Reading HBO message boards is nauseating because there are so many stupid people on there but I saw one post that is pretty on point

  The Kennard scene all makes sense if you go back in watch the episodes from season 3 in which omar was involved in that gun fight in which tasha was killed. When Bunk got to the scene Kennard was one of the three kids acting like they were Omar. If you sit down and think about it, Kennard idolized Omar and Omar let him down when he showed up on there corner in Season 5. He saw that Omar wasnt all that he thought he built up to be so he acted out of dissapointment. -- Game's the same, jus got more fierce

That is a great point. What better way to be your hero than to kill him in the sick diseased mind of the inner city.

And his death actually gave a key piece of info to the Baltimore PD to bring down Marlo. Two Eps left... I can't deal.

Now to completely destroy my year, Vic Mackey will be killed on the Shield.
I just feel it coming and I am still not ready.

Pour one out for Omar, the most compelling and idiosyncratic character to grace TV in quite some time.
